Shadow Puppetry
ECI 540 Reading in the Elementary School
I created a Reader's Theatre Shadow Puppetry for "Three Billy Goats Gruff" to demonstrate a fun and engaging way students can practice fluency and comprehension skills. Because shadow puppetry involves art, creativity, and social involvement students most likely will be motivated to read a story and create a shadow-puppet show to reenact the story. Reading strategies involved that improve fluency and comprehension include rereading of text, reading with expression, retelling the story, and character analysis.
